Synopsis:

DEENA is an academic in her late 40s, desk-bound and devoted to her cerebral work, she’s become disconnected from the world around her. But when a chance encounter with nine year-old THELMA forces her out into the world, she’s reminded of the spontaneity of movement that she took for granted in her youth.

Jane is a screenwriter, author and journalist and co-founder of Donut Films with Virginia Orr. She has written over 50 episodes of the UK’s most-watched TV dramas, and her work as been nominated for a British Soap Awards and as part of a team at the Writers’ Guild Award for Best Continuing Drama. She was selected to take part in MediaXchange’s masterclass course ‘Advanced TV Writing’ and has developed ideas with some of the UK’s top prodcos. A trained actor, Jane won Best Actress and Best British Drama for her first short film as writer/director DANCING ALONE at Discover Film, 2017. Her second short as writer/director TAKE ME BACK won Best Editor and Best Cinematographer laurels at Catfish Shorts and LIFA in 2019. In 2020, Donut Films’ TV pilot THEY THEM US, written and directed by Jane, won Best Short Form Drama at the LA Femme Film Festival and was picked up by OUTtv in Canada. She has just finished writing her second novel I MISS YOU ALREADY and is developing her first feature with Virginia.
